Emma comes to HEAL from a background in food system and food justice organizing.

She has specialized in farm-to-institution purchasing, working with the Northwest Agriculture Business Center and Puget Sound Food Hub to develop producer co-ops and cooperative marketing strategies for small- and medium-sized producers.

She developed food purchasing standards and policies for colleges and universities with the Real Food Challenge—a founding organization of HEAL.

As a community organizer in the food justice and racial justice movements, Emma has trained hundreds of activists and emerging leaders in leadership development and campaign strategy.

Emma has since managed operations and finances for nonprofit and movement organizations including worker organizing and political advocacy organizations, and progressive faith communities.

Emma has a degree in Development Sociology from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture where she studied food systems, inequality, and development domestically and abroad.

Based in Seattle, WA on Duwamish and Coast Salish land, Emma enjoys gathering and nourishing her community over good food, and travels internationally any chance she can get.
