(they/them)

Operations Coordinator

As we face increased economic uncertainty, political attacks, and ever more frequent ‘once in a generation’ natural disasters, we must go back to the basics. Water, Shelter, Food, Community. While these resources are plentiful, the barriers to freely accessing them are intentionally complicated. Our goal in participating in SoPL with our team is to learn from what has worked for others, where we can invest our strengths and resources that will create a sustainable foundation in the communities most in need. Through this we can effectively build towards lasting change that offers an alternative way of being, making a dream of a better future a reality.

Meet Dayana

Dayana (Day) is the Operations Coordinator for Solar Community Farm. They joined Solar Community Farm with the desire to directly fight the food insecurity prevalent in marginalized communities.

Their experiences as a low wage service worker and as a labor organizer focusing on Black and Brown service workers, highlighted the unfair labor conditions people are forced to endure just to feed themselves and their families. This led to a passionate interest in the intersection of labor, food security, and environmental conservation.
