Our Work

Our vision

For all people and all communities to have the right and the means to produce, procure, prepare, share, and eat food that’s nutritionally and culturally appropriate, free from exploitation of themselves and any other people, and to be in their full power in harmony with the rest of the natural world.

What we do

The HEAL Food Alliance builds and amplifies the power of frontline communities who are most negatively burdened by our current food system, and who are at the forefront of changing it.

Through community and translocal organizing, political campaigning, highlighting practices that support businesses that adhere to the Real Food Platform, and fighting against the abuse of workers, small farmers, consumer health, and the environment, we are bringing together food and farm justice groups to build collective power for transformative change.

Past work

Last year, we launched the Plate of the Union in partnership with Food Policy Action, the Food Policy Action Education Fund, and the Union of Concerned Scientists to raise the voice of Americans who care about food and farm issues. Together, we delivered over 100,000 petition signatures calling on the next President to take bold action for a food system that rewards farmers and farming practices that protect our environment, that provides dignity and fair wages to workers, and ensures that everyone living in the United States has access to healthy food that they can afford.
